Guy Cantwell has been involved in the local music scene in the San Francisco Bay Area for the last 25 years as an educator, performer, arranger and composer. Guy has been on the faculty at Cabrillo College for over 20 years where he teaches Classical Guitar, music theory, and Popular Music Appreciation. He maintains a private teaching studio, providing guitar instruction in a variety of styles, and many of his students have gone on to study guitar at universities and conservatories throughout the US and abroad.
Performances have included appearances with The Cabrillo Distinguished Artists' Concert and Lecture Series, New Music Works Santa Cruz, Cabrillo Cantiamo, UCSC Faculty Recital Series, Trinity Concert Series, the Saint Clare Guitar Ensemble, and Long Beach Light Opera. Guy has played at hundreds of weddings and parties throughout the Bay area. In addition to teaching and performing, Guy started Tule Fog Music to publish his arrangements for guitar ensembles.
Guy Cantwell holds a Master's Degree in guitar performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where he studied with David Tanenbaum. He is a graduate of the GIT/Musician's Institute in Hollywood and the University of California, Santa Cruz.
